A mother expressed her gratitude on social media towards a young man who, with an altruistic and honest gesture, returned a tablet that her grandson had lost at the Colón bus stop in Pinar del Río this Tuesday.
Yamile Cruz expressed her gratitude in the Facebook group "TODO - PINAR" towards a young man named Yosniel, whom she described as "an excellent human being and father" for having found and returned the tablet that her son had lost on Sunday at Vial Colón.
“A million thanks. I am eternally indebted,” the mother expressed, showing her deep gratitude towards the young man, who demonstrated a high level of honesty—something that stands in stark contrast to the reality in Cuba, where many take advantage of any opportunity to make money.
Last Sunday, Pedro Pablo Cruz, the grandfather of the boy who lost the tablet, requested help in that Facebook group, stating that the child had misplaced the device on Colón Avenue.
In addition to sharing her contact information for anyone who might find it, she appealed for the assistance of others to recover the tablet.
In the midst of the intensifying economic crisis, gestures of kindness like this are rare and highly valued.
In July, a young resident of Santiago de Cuba found a wallet containing documents and cards on the street and immediately sought a way to return it to its owner, without expecting any reward in return.
The protagonist of such a commendable gesture reached out to the independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, who shared on his Facebook wall a photo of an official document featuring the man's name.
