Cubans light candles beside the Cathedral of Barcelona for the health of El Taiger.

On Saturday, there were vigils for El Taiger in several Cuban provinces.

Fans of El Taiger in Barcelona gathered on Sunday evening to pray for his recovery, while the reggaeton artist remains in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

The appointment began at 7:00 pm at the cathedral of the City Condal, located in the Pla de la Seu.

From there, candles were lit and songs by the Cuban musician, very popular among the so-called “reparteros,” were sung and danced to.

The scene sparked a small debate on social media, as many wondered about the reason for the dance and the music.

The response came in several ways. “For those who don’t understand why people dance: 1: because he is alive after a gunshot to the head; very few people survive that, 2: He is a singer, we must honor him with his music, 3: Because he is the backbone of my country,” wrote a user on Instagram.

"Don't get it wrong, it's with joy that you can lift your spirits, not with sadness. That is to say, 0 crying, 0 sadness, this is prayer and a lot of positive energy for him. Remember that he is not dead, and those same vibes are what he needs," noted another internet user.

The expressions for the health of El Taiger have been diverse and in different manifestations and locations.

This Saturday there were vigils for El Taiger in Santiago de Cuba, Bayamo, Guantánamo, and Havana, according to some reports on social media.
