The Florida Department of Education reported on its website about the massive closure of schools and universities in the coming days, depending on the level of impact expected in each county of the state.
Schools in South Florida announced the closure of campuses starting Tuesday afternoon, the 8th, and expect to resume classes next Friday as a precautionary measure due to the effects associated with Hurricane Milton that are expected in the area.
However, in some coastal counties of the west - such as Hillsborough or Pinellas - they will also close on Friday.
In the specific case of Miami-Dade, the Public School Superintendent reported that all activities related to schools, including adult education, will be suspended starting at 6 p.m. today.
After-school childcare will remain open, but parents are advised to pick up their children as soon as possible.
All public schools in the county, as well as the regional and district offices, will be closed on Wednesday, October 9.
Although the schools will close, many will open as shelters, including shelters for pets.
