The popular Cuban orchestra Los Van Van expressed their sorrow on Thursday over the death of reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar (El Taiger), who had been in critical condition for a week at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after being shot in the head.

The iconic group published a message on their Twitter account, where they remember that they shared the stage several times with what they referred to as a "tireless warrior."

"Los Van Van have just lost a great FRIEND!" The truth is, you were a POWERHOUSE, you fought bravely until your last battle. Your departure deeply hurts us, but we feel proud to have known you and to have shared the stage on more than one occasion," the text expresses.

"Rest in peace, tireless warrior. Our deepest condolences to your family, friends, and all the followers who share this pain today," it concludes.

Los Van Van thus join the numerous Cuban artists who have reacted to the death of El Taiger.

The 36-year-old singer was declared dead this Thursday. "He has now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven," stated an official statement posted on his Instagram page.

The cousin of the singer and director of Los Cuatro, Jorge Junior, stated that the incident occurred at 12:40 PM.
