Visual artist Arley Valdés painted a mural in the Havana municipality of Marianao, showcasing the face of El Taiger, the popular Cuban reggaeton artist who passed away last Thursday in Miami.
Valdés was inspired by one of the photographs of the singer in which he is seen taking off his headphones, in a position that can be interpreted as a farewell.
The work, which adds to the hundreds of tributes being made these days in memory of the popular exponent of the urban genre, is located at the intersection of 51 and 88 streets in the municipality of Marianao, according to the painter himself.
Using airbrushing, a technique that utilizes aerosol or sprays, the artist received various displays of respect for his work.
"How lovely Arley! Only you know how to create such beautiful works with your wonderful hands," "What a beautiful job! And in such a short time as you are known for, champion, I don’t know how you manage to make your talent shine in an instant," "Thank you for sharing your art to immortalize our Taiger," "Beautiful tribute, thank you for your talent," were some of the expressions of affection captured on his Facebook, where the author shared a short video of the creative process.
The shock over the death of El Taiger, who was only 37 years old, has been immense, not only among his followers but also in the artistic world. Several artists have chosen to tattoo the famous acronym LBMA on their bodies, which the reggaeton artist made his own and that was a mystery for a long time.
The quick departure of El Taiger has also resonated internationally. Artists like J Balvin, Farruko, and 6ix9ine have joined in the lament for the loss, highlighting his talent and legacy.
