Cuban warns newcomers about Miami: "Money goes away like water"

Cuban warns about the disadvantages of living in Miami.

A Cuban from the United States has wanted to share his main advice to newcomers from the island: do not move to Miami. He provided this advice explaining the reasons why he does not recommend going to live in Miami as the first stop after leaving Cuba.

The user who published the video was Javier Díaz (@el_javiiko on TikTok), who commented on the challenges that anyone may face upon arriving in the city.

"Asere, Miami is the worst city to live in this country if you're newly arrived," the Cuban begins saying in the video, explaining that the cost of living is outrageous. "To be honest with you, Miami is more expensive than beef in Cuba. Between rent, food, and even the coffee, your money disappears like water. Check this out: a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment costs about 1500 dollars, brother. They can easily drain you with the rent alone," he added, adding a touch of humor.

Another issue that the young man highlights is traffic and the lack of efficient public transport options. "Miami's traffic is something else. And if you don't have a car, it's a hassle. Here, public transportation is like unicorns. You know it exists, but you never see it," he comments.

Finally, the young man points out the difficulty of finding stable and well-paying jobs. According to him, many of the jobs in Miami are temporary or poorly paid, which makes it even harder to cover the high cost of living. "Getting a permanent job that pays well here is like finding free wifi in Cuba," he jokes, but makes it clear that the job situation in the city is not ideal for newcomers.

The video has generated debate on social media, with some users supporting his stance and others defending life in Miami. However, the message from the young Cuban brings to light the reality many immigrants face upon arriving in a city known for its large Latino community, but also for its high costs and labor challenges.

"Miami is not for everyone, I've been here for 30 years and I wouldn't change it for anything," "Miami is Miami, you either learn or you leave," "I've been here for 18 years and if you want to live the luxurious life you need to have at least 4 jobs," "It’s crazy, I had to leave there, man. There's no one who can live there," "The quality of life is terrible, on top of everything, it's super expensive!" "I lived there for 4 years and I don't want it even in pictures. When I moved to Texas is when I really arrived in the U.S.," some users reacted to this video by Javiko La Doble C.
