Electrical collapse affects the supply of manufactured gas in Havana.

The supply of manufactured gas or street gas, as it is popularly known, has been interrupted in several areas of Havana, according to a note from the capital government.

"Due to a failure in the main electrical circuit of Plant #2, the gas service to the Playa - Marianao network is being affected," informed the governmental entity, which added that "they are working together with the Electric Company and GEYSEL to restore the service as soon as possible."

Although around two in the afternoon this Sunday, the Electric Company of Havana had reported that power had been restored in 67 circuits in that territory, a new collapse of the National Electric System (SEN) compromised the few active services in the country.

The general blackout, combined with the lack of fuel for cooking, has raised anxieties among the population, which has seen the little food obtained spoil in the refrigerators of their homes.

In several Cuban provinces, alternatives have been adopted to address the serious energy and fuel crisis facing the country.

Since Saturday afternoon, they began selling charcoal in Santa Clara as an alternative for cooking food.

However, after more than 48 hours without electricity, discontent is spreading through towns and cities in Cuba, where on Saturday citizens demonstrated with pot-banging in the capital and took to the streets to protest in Santiago de Cuba.
