A shooting in Cutler Bay on Monday night caused moments of panic among those attending a youth baseball game at Franjo Park, Miami-Dade.

According to the police, two men were injured in the incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of SW 89th Avenue and Old Cutler Road, right next to the playing fields.

Witnesses to the events reported to El Nuevo Herald that, while a children's baseball game was taking place, gunshots were heard coming from a nearby residential complex.

Parents and coaches quickly reacted to ensure the children's safety, creating a scene of chaos and fear in the middle of the park. A video shared by the news site Only in Dade showed the images of the prevailing panic after the first shots were heard.

"Everyone had to seek shelter," said a parent present, who described the situation as terrifying for both children and adults.

Detective Angel Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade police, indicated that the two injured men were immediately transported to Jackson South Medical Center, where they are in stable condition.

Although the shooting did not happen directly in the park, its proximity caused concern among the families present. Initial investigations indicate that at least one vehicle involved fled the scene, shooting at an apartment building.

The police cordoned off part of a nearby gas station to investigate a possible connection to the shooting, but no suspects have been arrested so far.

The authorities continue to work to clarify the reasons for the incident and ensure the safety of the community in an area where family activities have been impacted by this violent event.
