Yordenis Ugás on El Taiger: "I hope he can recover to be a better person."

"One thing is to have differences in opinion, thought, behavior, and another thing is to be in a bed fighting for your life."

Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugás spoke out about the attack on El Taiger and praised the reaction of the Cuban community in response to the tragic event.

Yordenis revealed that they have often coincided at karaoke and that the singer has always been very respectful towards him, despite knowing that they have their differences.

"I recently saw him at a concert by Leoni and I told a white guy who was with him: 'take care of him'. And when it came to El Chulo, I said: 'leave that shit'. I always had a feeling that something was going to end badly," he stated.

"One thing is to have differences of opinion, thought, behavior, and another thing is to be in a bed fighting for your life," she pointed out.

In a message shared on his Facebook wall, the boxer expressed his disagreement with those who criticize Cubans for showing solidarity with El Taiger and not demonstrating the same interest in other causes, such as the political prisoners in Cuba.

"We would love to, but this is not the time for that. Right now, a young man -with thousands of flaws, like we all have- is fighting for his life, and our united community is praying for him, so that he can get out of bed. Our wine is bitter, but it is our wine," he asserted.

"I hope he can recover to become a better person," he emphasized.

The health status of El Taiger remains unchanged after receiving a gunshot wound to the head on Thursday. He is still in critical condition, and the doctors moved him to a more secure room, his team said on their Instagram profile.

The singer has suffered significant brain damage as the bullet entered through his forehead and exited through the right side of his brain; the doctors had to remove part of his brain, and he is being kept on artificial respiration.
