The Cuban comedian Otto Ortiz once again brought laughter to social media with his remarks about Hurricane Rafael and the stockpile of food he managed to gather to wait out the storm at home.
He mentioned that he is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the cyclone, as he has stocked up on "6 pounds of bread, three packs of soda crackers, a jar of mayonnaise, and 4 bottles of cola."
In a humorous tone, he added: "I can't leave any of that for the next cyclone. We've been waiting for two days; if you're not coming, let me know so we can move on."
His words quickly went viral, generating amusing reactions from other Cubans who admitted to being in the same situation.
"Yesterday, I bought a pack of palitroque and a bottle of yogurt. The girls saw it and called out to me, 'Mom, is that for a snack today?'. I told them, noooo, that's for when the cyclone arrives. Hands back!", commented a user.
The reality is that, due to the situation in Cuba, basic products like bread, cookies, and soft drinks are hard to come by and pose a financial burden for many people. It is also an irresistible temptation to have them at home, knowing that they can only be consumed in times of emergency.
