The Cuban comedian Limay Blanco, leader of the ministry "Cristo Cambia Vidas," delivered a food donation this Saturday to the esteemed Cuban actor from film, theater, and television, Jorge Losada, who received it with gratitude and emotion.
"Look who I met in person. Thanks to everyone who helped me deliver this donation and to my friend José for his agency that facilitated this contribution. And to my friend, the owner of Perga soft drinks, and everyone who donated. God bless you all," the comedian expressed on his social media.
The donation, consisting of cans and food packages, soft drinks, hygiene products, and a Bible, was sent by supportive individuals from the Cuban community in Miami. In this regard, Limay expressed gratitude to the donors who participated in the charitable effort and mentioned the Cuban Iron Man, the Facebook profile ‘Fishing in Miami,’ and José González.
Recently, Losada, aged 91, has experienced various health issues. Last April, he had to be hospitalized at the Manuel Fajardo Hospital in Havana due to several health complications.
In February 2021, he underwent hip surgery (a procedure with subsequent complications) and as a result of the surgery, he developed severe anemia. Due to the shortage of medication in Cuba, those close to the actor turned to the Internet to obtain the necessary drugs for him.
Recently, it became known that Losada needed a wheelchair to move around, but he could not afford one.
Luis Lacosta, the art director at ICAIC who has assisted him in the past, revealed that Losada needed to leave, and this was the only way to do so. Within a few days, several supportive individuals from the Miami exile community mobilized and managed to send a wheelchair and medications to the actor.
Losada, a renowned actor in film, theater, and television, participated in the 2023 Cuban telenovela Renacer, an experience he described as "unique."
