Limay Blanco, also known as Muñi Muñi, is a Cuban comedian born in the Silvio Caro neighborhood of Bahía Honda, in the municipality of Pinar del Río. Coming from very humble beginnings, he has mentioned on several occasions that his home had a dirt floor and that his spelling mistakes are due to his time in school being spent "telling stories."
Limay, who as a child and young man had a great passion for telling Pepito's stories, formed a comedy group in the 1990s alongside Ismel Gonzáles called Los Comelocos. His big break came with the comedy contest Los Amigos de Pepito, a humor program that operated in the format of a joke contest, which launched comedians like Lemay, who won all stages of the competition: the quarterly, the semiannual, and the annual rounds.
In 2019, she announced via her social media that she was renouncing the Yoruba religion and converting to Christianity, which sparked significant controversy among her audience. Limay uses her social media not only to promote her work and share information about her performances on the island but also to keep her followers informed about her personal life.
Thanks to his networks, we have been able to learn that he contributed assistance while working in the USA with victims of the tornado that devastated several areas of Havana in January 2019. It is common to see Limay raise awareness about the living conditions of Cuban families and use the power of social media to seek help.
He did this in 2020 following a post that highlighted the desperate situation of a mother and her five young children living in extreme poverty in Pinar del Río, to whom he publicly committed to providing assistance once the pandemic was over.
In January 2021, the comedian sought help on social media for a 3-year-old girl who might lose her only healthy eye after the other was removed due to eye cancer. "Her parents have no resources and are asking for assistance. She urgently needs treatment, for which traveling is essential," the comedian mentioned on social media.
Recently, the controversial comedian opened the doors to his home on his YouTube channel after facing harsh criticism for his efforts to assist underprivileged families, showing that everything he owns is the result of his hard work. He also reiterated his desire to build a cabaret with the aim of raising funds to continue his charitable work.
In November 2020, it made news for its involvement in purchasing a wheelchair for a young Cuban with a disability living in Villa Clara.
