Limay Blanco, also known as Muñi Muñi, is a Cuban comedian born in the Silvio Caro neighborhood of Bahía Honda, in the Pinar del Río municipality. Coming from very humble beginnings, he has stated on several occasions that his house had a dirt floor and that his spelling mistakes are due to the fact that he went to school to "tell stories."
Limay, who as a child and young man had a great talent for telling Pepito's stories, formed a comedy group in the 1990s with Ismel Gonzáles called Los Comelocos. His big break came with the comedy contest Los Amigos de Pepito, a humorous program in the format of a joke competition that launched comedians like Lemay, who won every stage of the competition: the quarterly, the semiannual, and the annual phases.
In 2019, through her social media, she shared the news of her resignation from the Yoruba religion and her subsequent conversion to Christianity, which sparked significant controversy among her audience. Limay uses her social media not only to promote her work and showcase her performances on the island but also to inform her followers about her personal life.
Thanks to his networks, we have learned that he contributed with aid while working in the USA for the victims of the tornado that devastated several areas of Havana in January 2019. It is common to see Limay denouncing the conditions in which Cuban families live and using the power of social media to seek assistance.
In 2020, he did so following a publication that highlighted the desperate situation of a mother and her five small children living in extreme poverty in Pinar del Río, to whom he publicly committed to help once the pandemic ended.
In January 2021, the comedian sought help on social media for a 3-year-old girl who could lose her only remaining healthy eye after the other was removed due to eye cancer. “Her parents do not have the resources and are asking for help. She urgently needs treatment, which requires her to travel,” the comedian stated on social media.
Recently, the controversial comedian opened the doors of his home on his YouTube channel after receiving harsh criticism for his work helping underprivileged families, and he showcased that everything he has is the result of his labor. He also reiterated his desire to build a cabaret with the goal of raising funds to continue his charitable work.
In November 2020, it made headlines for its involvement in the purchase of a wheelchair for a young Cuban with disabilities residing in Villa Clara.
