Limay Blanco, also known as Muñi Muñi, is a Cuban comedian born in the Silvio Caro neighborhood of Bahía Honda, in the municipality of Pinar del Río. Coming from very humble beginnings, he has often stated that his home had a dirt floor and that his spelling mistakes are due to his time at school being spent "telling stories."
Limay, who as a child and young man had a great talent for telling Pepito's stories, formed a comedic group in the 90s with Ismel Gonzáles called Los Comelocos. His big opportunity came with the comedy contest Los Amigos de Pepito, a humorous program in the format of a joke competition that launched comedians like Lemay, who won every stage of the competition: the quarterly, the semiannual, and the annual.
In 2019, he announced through his social media that he had renounced the Yoruba religion and subsequently converted to Christianity, which sparked significant controversy among his audience. Limay uses his social media not only to promote his work and share information about his performances on the island but also to keep his followers informed about his private life.
Thanks to his networks, we have learned that he contributed assistance while working in the USA with the victims of the tornado that devastated several areas of Havana in January 2019. It is common to see Limay denounce the conditions in which Cuban families live and use the power of social media to seek help.
This is what he did in 2020 following a publication that highlighted the desperate situation of a mother and her five young children, who live in extreme poverty in Pinar del Río, and to whom he publicly committed to helping once the pandemic was over.
In January 2021, the comedian appealed for help on social media for a 3-year-old girl who might lose her only remaining healthy eye after the other was removed due to eye cancer. “Her parents lack resources and are asking for help. She urgently needs treatment, which requires travel,” the comedian stated on social media.
Recently, the controversial comedian opened the doors of his home on his YouTube channel after facing harsh criticism for his work helping underprivileged families and showed that everything he has is a result of his labor. He also reiterated his desire to build a cabaret with the aim of raising money to continue his charitable work.
In November 2020, it made headlines for being involved in the purchase of a wheelchair for a young Cuban with a disability living in Villa Clara.
