On Monday afternoon, a couple of Cubans was shot at in the capital of Guatemala by armed hitmen who apparently attempted to rob them. A woman, approximately 55 years old, was injured in the incident.
Local media reported that the victims were driving in a vehicle when individuals began shooting at them. One of the bullets struck a window of the car.
In light of this situation, which took place in an area known as La Reformita, zone 12, Cubans sought assistance at the fire station located on Liberación Boulevard, where rescuers came to their aid, as reported by Guatemalan media.
The spokesperson for the Municipal Fire Department, Carlos Hernández, stated that the woman, who suffered an injury to her left arm, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital, where she remained stable.
The couple, although also affected by the incident, did not require hospitalization at that time.
On its account on X, the Fire Department shared details of the assistance provided to the couple, whose identities were not disclosed, as well as the damage caused by the projectiles to the windshield and windows of the car.
According to the victims, the assailants attempted to rob them of their belongings and shot at them twice.
The incident is under investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible.
