The disappearance of a couple in the province of Santiago de Cuba approximately a month ago has left their family and friends anxious, prompting them to urgently appeal to anyone with information that could help locate them.
Social media posts indicate that Eliset Pérez Díaz and her partner Estermis Deodonis Batista, known as “Tide Sax,” were last seen a month ago, and their whereabouts have been unknown since then.
The gender observatory of the magazine Alas Tensas issued an alert this Tuesday regarding the disappearance of a woman and her partner, and requested that anyone with information about them contact the phone number 54303041 or call the police.
One of the first alerts about the case was given by Clara Elena Castillo Areas, who sought help on Facebook at the end of October to locate Pérez, 43 years old.
According to their publication, the woman was last seen in Havana, heading to the Isle of Youth, but this information has not been corroborated by other sources, which place her disappearance in Santiago de Cuba.
Castillo requested that anyone who knew the woman's whereabouts contact her at her phone number (54303041). "Her mother is frantic," she stated.
In another post, he stated that the disappearance of Pérez and his partner is "well-known in the country," but "no one knows and the police are not providing any answers."
The profile "Reporte Cuba Ya" also reported on the case, noting that relatives of both individuals "claim that it is unusual for the couple to be out of touch without notice, and this situation has generated significant concern among family members and neighbors."
The note adds that “despite seeking help from various institutions, no concrete leads have been found regarding the case.”
According to reports on social media, Batista is a musician, and on his Facebook profile, he identifies as a saxophonist; however, no further information is provided about the couple.
Reports of missing persons have increased significantly over the past year. Weekly, social media is filled with requests for assistance from family and friends seeking information to help locate their loved ones, due to the absence of an official channel from the Cuban government to address this issue.
