Three members of a Cuban family, including a child, and a young Venezuelan died in a tragic traffic accident that occurred in northwest Miami-Dade early Saturday morning.
The Miami-Dade Police identified Lainet Rodríguez, 48, and Liudmila Lara Rodríguez, 29, as two of the deceased in the traffic accident on Monday, but did not disclose the identities of the other two fatalities, according to a report from Telemundo51.
In recent hours, family members and close acquaintances of the victims confirmed on social media that the two women, a mother and her daughter, along with the young son of the daughter, Bryan Cardoso Lara, who was eight years old, lost their lives in the incident and were Cuban. The family was from San José de las Lajas in the province of Mayabeque.
The influencer Niover Licea also confirmed that the young Venezuelan, José Yance, who was Lara's husband, died in the car accident.
The accident occurred around 12:53 a.m. in the area of Northwest 72nd Avenue and 74th Street in Miami-Dade, and involved three vehicles, the county police stated in a release cited by Telemundo51.
“As a result of the collision, three adults and one minor were critically injured inside a black sedan,” the police stated.
According to the authorities, one of the women and the man suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The other woman was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital by personnel from the Miami-Dade Fire Department, and the minor was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, "both victims succumbed to their injuries," the police reported.
According to information from the Miami-Dade Police Department provided to the television network, Lara was traveling in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, while Rodríguez was in the back left seat.
A sister of the young Cuban woman who passed away, Roxana Lara Reyes, opened a GoFundMe account to raise funds to cover the funeral expenses for the four deceased.
"I'm raising funds for the funeral of my sister, her son, her mother, and her husband, who tragically passed away in a traffic accident in Miami-Dade today, 11/16/2024, at 12:53 AM," she wrote in the request for assistance.
Family and friends of Yance also launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate his body and provide him with a burial in his hometown, Anaco, in Anzoátegui, Venezuela.
The tragic loss of these four individuals in the prime of their lives has caused deep dismay among family and friends, and there are numerous messages of sorrow and condolences shared on social media.
The authorities continue to investigate this tragic accident.
