A false bomb threat led to a precautionary closure and a large police presence at Hialeah Senior High School around noon on Monday.
Television channel helicopters flew over the scene and captured images of the massive police presence at the educational center located at 251 E. 47th St., in the city of Hialeah, around 11:45 a.m.
According to the police, the agents received reports of a bomb threat and the presence of a weapon in the school.
After assessing the information as credible, police units arrived and entered the campus, including four K-9 units.
The authorities later reported that the threats appeared to be unfounded, but a security sweep was being conducted at the school as a precautionary measure, said the news channel WPLG Local 10 News.
The police informed the parents who arrived at the school that they could go home and that the facility had been secured.
The school remains closed as the Hialeah Police continue to work with the Miami-Dade County School Police, reported 7 News Miami.
