The teenager, identified as Yusuan Fundora Massaguet, had departed last Friday, January 17, on a rustic boat from Playa del Chivo, in the Habana del Este area, to go on a fishing trip. His disappearance prompted an intense search by his family and friends, who used social media to request help and information about his whereabouts.

During the days they were missing, the family expressed their distress due to the reported adverse weather conditions at the time of departure, which heightened concerns for their safety.

In Cuba, reports of fishermen missing at sea have increased over the past year. The lack of official channels for searching for people has forced families to use digital platforms to gather information and mobilize rescue efforts.

It is expected that more details regarding his health status and the circumstances of his discovery will be provided in the coming hours.
