José Daniel Ferrer congratulates independent communicator Yosmany Mayeta: "They say that Johnson gets informed through you."

In an ironic tone, José Daniel Ferrer stated that Beatriz Johnson gets her information from Yosmany Mayeta. He also reported that a guard from Mar Verde is monitoring the communicator because he "always tells the truth."

The Cuban opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer sent a congratulatory message to independent communicator Yosmany Mayeta, highlighting the impact of his informational work, to the extent that even Beatriz Johnson, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Santiago de Cuba, closely follows his publications.

"they say that Johnson gets informed from you, not from the official media," Ferrer ironically stated in the video directed at Mayeta, which was published by the latter on his Facebook profile.

In addition, he praised their journalism and also recounted how their work is widely discussed in Santiago de Cuba.

The opposition member shared an anecdote that took place inside the Mar Verde prison, where a member of the internal security staff confessed to him that he followed Mayeta's posts and considered them to be true.

“A guard at the Mar Verde prison, very brave because the guards were afraid to speak to me, asked me: ‘Do you know Mayeta?’ I told her yes, of course, he’s my friend, he’s a member of UNPACU, he’s a great journalist, we were neighbors. She replied: ‘I always see Mayeta, everything he says is true,’” Ferrer recounted.

The leader of UNPACU recorded the video in the midst of a blackout lasting over 12 hours, denouncing the precariousness of the electrical system in Santiago de Cuba.

Finally, Ferrer concluded his message by sending a hug to Mayeta and reiterating his admiration for her work in denouncing the Cuban reality.

In last October, the symbol of protest “Súbelo Mayeta,” which collects the complaints of the people of Santiago de Cuba sent to the independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada and has become a popular hashtag on social media, took a step further by transforming into a protest conga.

The communicator himself shared a reel on Facebook that shows a large group of young people performing a conga, using improvised musical instruments while chanting "Súbelo Mayeta".
