The President of the United States, Donald Trump, starred in a highly symbolic and spectacular event by attending the Daytona 500 this Sunday in Florida, the most iconic race of NASCAR.
Trump not only opened the 2025 season of the racing championship, but also toured the circuit aboard the presidential limousine, known as "The Beast," eliciting a great ovation from those in attendance.
"From the roar of engines on the track to the echo of the national anthem of the United States resonating in the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, power, and unbreakable spirit that makes America great," it can be read today on Trump's X account.
Accompanied by his granddaughter Carolina, Trump was warmly received by the attendees and took the time to greet the drivers and various personalities from the motorsport world.
One of the highlights of the event was when the leader, holding hands with his granddaughter, boarded "The Beast" and took a couple of laps around the 2.5-mile track.
This imposing vehicle, officially known as Cadillac One, is equipped with advanced security measures that include bulletproof glass, a reinforced body, and a system for protection against chemical attacks.
As Trump toured the circuit, the crowd cheered him on and the U.S. national anthem echoed in the stands.
“That spirit is what will drive the Golden Age of the United States, and if we harness it, the future will truly be ours”, it also reads today on their official account on X.
"Our country is getting back on track, and we have spirit all around the world. We have regained it, and less than four weeks have passed,” he responded to a journalist at the edge of the runway.
The president arrived at the Daytona International Speedway aboard Air Force One, which was captured flying over the circuit in an impressive scene that quickly went viral on social media.
An event with strict security measures
Since Saturday, security in Daytona Beach has been strengthened with the presence of U.S. military aircraft, which transported vehicles and personnel from the Secret Service.
On Sunday morning, several pilots and team members shared images on social media of the strict inspection checks before entering the circuit.
A triumphant return to Daytona
This is not the first time that Trump has appeared at this event.
In 2020, during his first term, he had already attended as grand marshal and gave the command to start with the traditional shout: “Gentlemen, start your engines.”
Five years later, his return to the Daytona 500 reaffirms his connection to a sport that has historically had a fan base aligned with his political movement.
Trump's visit to Daytona occurred just a week after his appearance at Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans, marking the beginning of a year in which the president has been present at major sporting events.
