Dozens of protesters gathered this Sunday in the southwest of Miami-Dade to express their discontent with the anti-immigrant measures promoted by President Donald Trump and supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The protest, organized by the Proud Migrant association, took place at 40 Bird Road on the Southwest of the city, near Tropical Park, where activists and citizens of various nationalities -including Americans- denounced the impact of these policies on immigrant communities.
Through banners and slogans, they condemned the plan being carried out by several organizations, including the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

It is worth noting that DeSantis signed on Thursday a comprehensive package of laws to combat illegal immigration and strengthen mass deportations in the state.
"Today, the Florida Legislature has approved the strongest legislation to combat illegal immigration of any state in the entire country. We are at the forefront of the fight to end the illegal immigration crisis," he stated.
The Republican politician sanctioned regulations to mandate state and local involvement in the enforcement of federal immigration law, criminalize illegal entry into Florida, and end the practice of capturing and releasing foreign offenders.
"All are excellent policies," he emphasized on his X account.
Religious groups sue the Trump administration over ICE detentions in churches
More than 20 religious groups in the United States sued the Trump administration over the detentions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in churches.
The lawsuit, representing millions of Americans practicing Christianity and Judaism, alleges that authorizing ICE officers to carry out arrests in places of worship is causing fear and has diminished attendance at services. As a result, it undermines religious freedom, specifically the ability of groups to minister to migrants.
