A Cuban man is accused of murdering his wife in Hialeah Gardens, in Miami-Dade, by causing the explosion of his own vehicle with his partner inside, following a heated argument.
Although the femicide has come to light now, the incident took place around 6:00 a.m. on February 1st in Northwest 114th Terrace, right near the couple's residence.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim and the aggressor -50 years old and identified as Noel Ruiz Mestre- were married.
The couple's relationship had been marked by recent conflicts, possibly related to an alleged infidelity on the part of the woman.
According to witnesses, the couple had gone out in the car and, at one point, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. It was then that a heated argument took place inside the car. The woman tried to get out, but she couldn't do so.
Shortly after, Ruiz Mestre exited the vehicle and, in a premeditated manner, triggered the explosion of a device that was located inside the car.
The explosion startled the neighbors, who described the sound as a terrifying roar. Security footage captured the exact moment when the car exploded.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) confirmed that the explosion was intentionally caused by a homemade explosive device or an unknown incendiary device.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle engulfed in flames. In the front passenger seat, they discovered the charred body of the victim, who was completely unrecognizable due to the severe burns.
Ruiz Mestre fled the scene and went home, where he disposed of his burnt clothes. Then, in an apparent attempt at self-harm, he stabbed himself several times in the abdomen before calling 911 to report that he had injured himself.
The suspect remains hospitalized and is facing serious charges
The accused was immediately transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where he continues to receive medical attention for his injuries and burns.
However, the authorities have already brought against them charges of second-degree murder and first-degree arson.

The identity of the victim has not yet been officially released by the authorities.
The residents of Hialeah Gardens were shocked by the incident. Many described the couple as normal and friendly people.
Authorities continue to investigate the details of the case, including the exact type of explosive used. Ruiz Mestre is expected to be transferred to jail as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.
