The Cuban capital is facing a new crisis in public transportation with the unexpected breakdown of the only ferry in operation that serves the route between Havana and the municipality of Regla.
Yesterday, during its last trip, the vessel experienced a technical breakdown, which has prevented it from operating this Thursday, February 20, reported the Provincial Transport Company of Havana (EPTH) on Facebook.
Through a post, it was communicated that due to the breakdown, the first morning trips could not be carried out, affecting hundreds of passengers who rely on this means of transportation to travel between both points.
In response to the emergency, the company reinforced the route with three additional buses (5339, 8461, and 8422) to minimize the impact on travelers.
Although this replacement is not an exact substitute for the boat, it is expected to partially alleviate the situation while repair work on the vessel is carried out.
The EPTH informed that it will keep citizens updated on the progress of the repairs through its official channels, such as the company's Facebook page and Telegram channel. They have also expressed their apologies for the inconveniences caused to users.
