The writer Stephen King reappeared on the social network X after a long period of absence, and he did so with a direct message against President Donald Trump and businessman Elon Musk.

"Just wanted to say that Trump is a treacherous idiot and a lover of Putin! Elon is twice ahead!" wrote the author of It and The Shining, in a message that quickly sparked reactions on the platform.

King's reappearance on X is striking, as he announced his retirement from the platform last year due to its "toxic atmosphere."

In November, after the presidential elections, he announced that he would migrate to Threads, the Meta-backed alternative. However, this Thursday he surprised his followers with a message asking, "I'm back! Did you miss me?"

The writer, known for his political activism on social media, has been a frequent critic of Trump and the Republican Party. During the president's first term, he called for his impeachment and compared his administration's immigration policies to one of his horror novels.

His attack on Musk is not new either. In the past, King questioned the tycoon's decisions at the helm of X, particularly the implementation of the paid verification system and his spending on aid for Ukraine.

After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the writer stated: "What most of us learned as children on the playground: you don't stand still while a big kid hits a little kid. You might take a hit or two to make the big kid stop, but it's the right thing to do."

The novelist's return to X coincides with the upcoming premiere of The Monkey, a film adaptation of his 1980 story about a cursed toy monkey. Some speculate that his return may be motivated by the film's promotion, although his representatives have not responded to these assumptions.
