The singer Israel Rojas, a defender of the Castro regime, publicly expressed his support for Professor Carlos Lazo, a Cuban resident in the United States who has spent years bringing medical supplies to pediatric hospitals on the Island, but who is now denouncing that the government is obstructing his humanitarian work.

Israel responded to the statements made by a Public Health Ministry (MINSAP) official, who claimed that Lazo "has not told the truth," although she acknowledged that Lazo has been denied entry to health institutions on some occasions.

"It is deeply unfair to suggest that he is lying," the singer-songwriter stated on his wall.

The leader of the group Buena Fe recalled that in December he raised an alarm on his social media about what he described as "a botched job by some institutions" in their treatment of emigrants who are advocating for the normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States.

"I have witnessed how the treatment of them has shifted from admiration to avoidance. And recently to the obstruction of their efforts to connect with sectors of Cuban society," he emphasized.

Rojas praised Lazo's work and his project Puentes de Amor, stating that in his opinion, "they represent a constructive and different way of relating the nation to its emigration."

"I'm going to say it here and now: IF THE CIA IS SENDING THEM, THEN LET THE CIA KEEP MAKING MISTAKES and stop messing around so much. It's very difficult to prove that the arguments of various 'ultra-revolutionary' sites are the same as those of the super haters," he emphasized.

This week, Carlos Lazo reported that the Cuban authorities are imposing restrictions on the direct delivery of medical supplies and powdered milk to pediatric hospitals on the Island. His complaint marks a shift in his narrative, after years of being seen as an ally of the regime in its crusade against the American embargo.

The Cuban-American activist, known for his leadership in the Bridges of Love project, stated that the government is obstructing the humanitarian work that his organization has been doing for years in favor of the Cuban people.

"Puentes de Amor can no longer visit Cuban pediatric hospitals," he stated. The issue, he explained, has been ongoing for months, but the activists remain "focused on the task of bringing donations to Cuba," despite a "mysterious regulation" that prohibits them from visiting medical centers.

"It seems that extremism, suspicion, and silencing against us is not just a phenomenon in Miami. In Cuba, there are also things that discourage and offend those who fight for the Cuban family," he added.

For its part, the Cuban regime responded to Lazo by categorically denying that access has been restricted for him or other solidarity groups to health institutions.

This was affirmed by Yilian Jiménez Expósito, an official of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), who ultimately admitted that the professor has been denied entry at times and explained the reason.

"Cuba has never denied solidarity groups access to health institutions," and he specified that Lazo himself has documented evidence proving the delivery of their donations.

"He has strayed from the truth. Whenever he has been unable to visit the hospital, evidence of the receipt of those donations at the institutions has always been sent to him," he noted.
