The Cuban opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer reported on his social media this Tuesday that repressive agents of the regime have threatened to kill him, make him disappear, or imprison him again.
“Every day I receive information that their repressive agents are telling the people who support us that they are going to kill me, that they are going to make me disappear, that they are going to imprison me again, etc.”, wrote Ferrer in a message posted on Facebook and addressed to the Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel.
In his statement, the opposition member recalled a phrase from the National Anthem of Cuba to reaffirm his stance of fighting against the regime: "To die for the homeland is to live."
Moreover, he reaffirmed his determination by stating that he is not afraid of losing his life, as he considers it eternal from the moment he decided to dedicate it to his suffering homeland.
Ferrer also reported this Wednesday on the social media platform X that the regime's repression is not only aimed at him, but also targets activists, neighbors, and vulnerable individuals who have any kind of connection with him or provide him with a service.

"The political police use the national police to summon, threaten, intimidate, detain, and rob activists, neighbors, vulnerable cases, self-employed individuals, taxi drivers, and motorcyclists who have any connection with me or provide us with any services," the opposition member reported.
As an example, he mentioned that on Tuesday afternoon, regime agents confiscated an electric pot belonging to a technician who was repairing it. He also claimed that arrests occur daily and that in the last 10 days, more than 300 people have been threatened due to their connection with him.
The persecution against Ferrer and his associates intensified this Wednesday in Altamira, Santiago de Cuba, where agents of the political police and the national police set up surveillance outside his home to intercept those entering or leaving the residence, as reported by the opposition leader.
"Agents of the political and national police are waiting for anyone who leaves our home to stop, threaten, and interrogate them. More than twenty people have been harassed today," Ferrer denounced on Facebook.
The opposition figure also noted that, in an attempt to discredit him, the authorities have resorted to defamation, accusing him of being a "terrorist" and, more recently, a "sexual predator."
"They will soon be saying that I burned the Indian Hatuey," he ironized, highlighting the absurdity of the accusations.
In January, after being released in what he described as an undignified negotiation, Ferrer sent another powerful message to Díaz-Canel: "It is time to stop harming Cuba, to end the state terrorism against the people, to prevent millions of Cubans from suffering all kinds of deprivations and wishing to emigrate to other lands, and to stop persecuting and imprisoning dissenters in concentration camps, Nazi-style."
Ferrer’s allegations reflect the intensification of repression in Cuba against dissenting voices, a recurring strategy of the regime to attempt to silence the opposition.
The leader of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) has been a victim of constant reprisals for his activism, including imprisonments and assaults.
