Damir is facing bureaucratic obstacles regarding his transfer permit to the U.S.

According to the doctors themselves, they informed Eliannis Ramírez, the child's mother, that they needed to wait for permission from State Security

The mother of the Cuban child Damir Ortiz Ramírez, along with Cuban activists and doctors, have reported the obstruction of the permit for the transfer of the child by air ambulance to the United States, where he can receive treatment for his complex health situation, worsened by type 1 neurofibromatosis, a plexiform neurofibroma in his right eye, in addition to acute leukemia.

Through a joint broadcast by activist Idelisa Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia and Miguel Ángel Ruano Sánchez, president of the Free Cuban Medical Guild, it was revealed that for Damir to travel to southern Florida, the doctors at the hospital must provide, via telephone, information for the ambulance system that will transport him.

However, even though they called persistently, no one answered the phone on the first few occasions. Salcedo confirmed that when the specialists at the Hematology Institute were notified that the phone would ring, no one came out.

According to the doctors themselves, Eliannis Ramírez, the child's mother, they had to wait for permission from State Security to respond. Finally, after noon, they were able to make the call, as confirmed by Salcedo on Facebook.

"It is not necessary to express an opinion on whether he is fit to travel or not," Salcedo and Ruano asserted directly.

"Official of the SE attending to the Hematology Institute, none of you will prevent Damir from being transferred", Ruano stated during the broadcast, warning about the danger of delaying Damir's arrival in the United States.

At the same time, they had informed that at 1:00 pm, the medicalized air ambulance official would call again to obtain the necessary information, which is why they urged the on-call doctor to answer the phone.

Eliannis Ramírez warned that "Troy will burn" if they do not provide the requested information, as her son's life is at risk.

"Enough with so much incompetence, for goodness' sake," said the mother, who just received parole this Friday for her son to seek treatment outside the country.

In just 24 hours, the money was raised to pay for an air ambulance that will enable Damir to reach the United States for medical treatment that could save his life.

The solidarity of the Cubans has managed to raise $45,848, more than the $41,800 needed to hire the service under suitable conditions for the little one.

Only the medical information that the Cuban doctors must provide is still needed to sign the contract on Monday with the medical system that will supply the ambulance. This way, on Tuesday, he could already be transferred to the hospital in Miami, Florida, which has agreed to treat Damir.

Previously, the family had already faced bureaucratic obstacles due to the refusal of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba (MINSAP) to provide the necessary documentation for the humanitarian visa. Finally, the U.S. Embassy granted the visa after receiving the required documentation, thereby allowing Damir to travel for urgent medical treatment.
