A serious accident occurred on Monday night in the town of Loma de Tierra, in the municipality of Cotorro, when a police patrol collided with a car and two motorcycles, leaving two injured with serious injuries.

The incident occurred around 10:35 p.m., and according to the internet user who shared images in the Facebook group Accidents Buses & Trucks, the officers driving the patrol were under the influence of alcohol.

"The police car was traveling at 80 km/h, first colliding with the car that was correctly following its lane and then crashing into the two motorcycles that were also riding correctly, one behind the other. And yes, there were injuries", specified in the comments section of his post, Reynaldo Gabriel Fereira Prieto, the author of the photos shared on social media.
The occupants of the motorcycles sustained multiple fractures and severe disfigurements.
They were transferred to the Guard Corps of the Miguel Enríquez Hospital (La Benéfica) in Havana, where -according to the news portal La Tijera- they have not received the necessary medical attention due to a lack of beds, swabs, and antibacterial ointments.
The journalist Yosmany Mayeta, for his part, shared a video on Facebook that shows the severity of the accident scene.
The case has sparked outrage on social media, where many have criticized the impunity with which the police forces act in Cuba.
"Now, who pays for the damages? It stayed that way because they are the ones in charge. If it were the other way around, they would even jail the drivers," commented a user.
Another added: "Corruption, disrespect, and social disorder reign in Cuba. Those henchmen get drunk and destroy patrol cars that are worth more than three ambulances."
Concern was also expressed about the possibility that the involved agents may not be sanctioned: "I hope the patrol driver pays for it and does not go unpunished for drinking and driving," wrote a user.
"We all know that now they will try to find a way to blame the civilians." "Do what I say, not what I do. That's how it is." "This is terrible, family. How much longer are we going to endure?" were other comments.
So far, no official statements have been made regarding the accident.
