A large-scale fire, which occurred early Thursday morning at the intersection of Rafael Ferro and Máximo Gómez in the municipality of Pinar del Río, has caused significant damage to the fixed telecommunications service network.

According to a report on Facebook by the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A. (ETECSA), the incident has caused partial interruptions in seven multi-pair copper cable networks, as well as damage to a wooden pole, which directly affects users on Rafael Ferro, Mariana Grajales, Colón, Máximo Gómez streets, and even at the Hermanos Saiz University.

The technical teams of ETECSA are urgently working on-site to assess the damages and carry out the necessary repairs to restore the service as quickly as possible.

In the coming days, partial disruptions are likely to occur in the affected areas, so the company advises its users to stay informed through its official platforms.

Fire causes damage at UEB Forestal and two homes, one of which is a private business

The fire started around 1:00 a.m. and was extinguished by approximately 3:45 a.m. thanks to the intervention of the Fire Department, with support from the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), and the Water Supply service.

According to statements made by Lieutenant Colonel Raúl Iván Enrique Bello, head of the Fire Department in the province, the fire originated in the UEB Forestal, quickly spreading to nearby homes due to the intense flames and the presence of multiple pathways for propagation.

Despite the magnitude of the disaster, no loss of human life or injuries were reported. However, the flames affected two homes, one of which housed a private business, in addition to causing damage to the forestry company itself.
