The Cuban singer-songwriter Raúl Torres continues to express his dissatisfaction at being omitted from the Museum of Cuban Music and has once again defended his right to be included in the institution, arguing that his work is part of the country's cultural legacy.

In a recent social media post, Torres stated that he did not deserve to be excluded from the museum and that after a conversation with the institution's director, he was promised that this oversight would be corrected. "It turned out that the museum's director is an extraordinary woman, someone I have admired and cared for since I was almost a teenager. She called me, offered her apologies—something I confess I did not expect—and we talked about how the museum would rectify that misunderstanding," wrote the musician.

The artist stated that he is confident he will be included in the museum and will inform his followers when that happens. "After that conversation with the Director, I feel much better. I know she will keep her word, and when it happens, I'll let you know," he affirmed.

Torres insisted that his name should be among the prominent artists of the country and justified his stance by stating that his work has been defended both inside and outside of Cuba. "To be frank, I believe it is fair. I am not only an admirer of the work of many artists, but also of my own and the circumstances in which it was created. I always keep in mind those who have defended my work, both in Cuba and abroad. International Copyright reports speak for themselves, and my people, who constantly remind me of the titles of my songs, inspire me to defend my place," he added.

The troubadour also wanted to emphasize what he believes defines the "good Cubans": "This is how we good Cubans are: we apologize, we accept apologies, and together we grow," he concluded in his message.

In another post, Torres reiterated his discontent and made it clear that his music is more than just simple entertainment: “When you only create songs, you can overlook omissions and things left unconsidered... but when you are the vehicle or the channel through which songs that have been in the thoughts of a people come to light, you must stand up for yourself and claim your place, because in doing so, you are precisely defending the people, whom I will never betray,” he wrote alongside an image of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez.

The troubadour's indignation began when, a few days ago, he visited the Cuban Music Museum and discovered that his name was not included in any of its exhibits. “Not a photo, not a memento, not a mention,” he lamented at that moment. The artist, who has been a staunch supporter of the Cuban government, described this omission as “a hard blow” and expressed his surprise that other musicians critical of the regime were indeed represented in the institution.

Despite having received an official apology, Torres still seems dissatisfied and determined to have his legacy recognized by the Cuban state. His insistence has sparked debate on social media, where many users have questioned his stance and criticized his demand to be included in a state museum.

So far, the Museum of Cuban Music has not issued an official statement on how it will address the troubadour's request.
