The robbery was reported on social media by Sergio Rodríguez Lamas, a friend of the vehicle's driver, who asked the transport community for assistance in locating him.

"My trucking brothers, please read this and share it in the truck groups... A friend had his truck stolen and is frantically searching for it, you know how people can be over material possessions. Please let me know if you see it out there +5355356613 this is my number," he wrote in the official Facebook group for Truckers of Cuba.

The stolen vehicle is a Kamaz truck, with a white cab featuring a purple stripe at the top and a blue body. It has six rear wheels, foldable metal side panels, and plates displaying the IMAR insignia on the front.

In images shared on social media, the truck can be seen in a loading area with people in the back, suggesting it was being used for transporting goods.

The theft has generated uncertainty not only due to the loss of the truck but also because of the consequences that the driver might face, given the state control over material goods.

On various occasions, Cuban workers have reported that the loss of state equipment or vehicles can lead to severe sanctions, including legal proceedings and even imprisonment.

"Crime is on the rise, they can't imagine how many problems of all kinds it is causing that man. They should pay very dearly for that," commented a user.

Another Cuban denounced the lack of real consequences for criminals: "People are stealing everything and they will continue to steal because they get caught, receive a simple fine, and are back on the street. This is how it is here."

Some also expressed skepticism about the possibility of recovering the truck. "I hope they find it, because otherwise we'll see it with private plates. With the corruption and chaos that exists in this country, anything is possible now."

While the driver and his associates continue searching for the truck, the increasing mistrust in the authorities and the rise in thefts reinforce the feeling of insecurity in Cuba.

Hasta el momento, No official statement has been issued regarding the theft, nor have they reported whether any operations are underway para recuperar el vehículo.

In Cuba, thefts of private vehicles have been more frequent than those of state-owned vehicles. Various reports and complaints on social media indicate an increase in the theft of private cars, especially models such as Ladas.

For example, in January 2025, a young woman requested help to recover her father's stolen car in Artemisa. Similarly, in August 2024, a report was made about the outside the Agromercado de Tulipán in Havana.

In addition, the authorities have dismantled gangs dedicated to vehicle theft. In February 2025, reports emerged about the capture of a car theft gang in Artemisa.
