Cuban authorities have dismantled an alleged "gang" involved in car theft during a recent police operation in the neighborhood of Cajió, in the municipality of Güira de Melena, Artemisa province.

According to the official pro-government Facebook profile Angerona de Cuba, a citizen was arrested for his alleged involvement in these crimes.

The stolen vehicle was found hidden on a farm that, according to authorities, had been acquired illegally.

Additionally, neighbors in the area reported that during the operation, a 16-gauge shotgun and several cartridges were seized.

This operation is part of a broader offensive that, according to the aforementioned source, authorities have intensified in the province with the aim of curbing car theft and protecting the property of citizens and state entities.

Recently, a couple riding their electric motorcycle on a road in Artemisa were attacked by masked individuals who attempted to steal their vehicle.

In that case, the incident occurred in broad daylight on the road connecting the city of Artemisa with the town of Lincoln, located just five kilometers from the municipal seat, according to a report from the Cuban Institute for Freedom of Expression and the Press (ICLEP).

Fortunately, when the thieves saw that the farmer was carrying a machete, they fled along a path.
