Murder on a Miami trolley: Man is stabbed by an unknown assailant in a seemingly unprovoked attack

The victim, a restaurant worker, was a frequent user of public transportation and was simply waiting to get off when he became the target of the attacker.

A normal afternoon on Miami's public transport turned into a scene of horror when a passenger was brutally stabbed inside a trolley, an event captured by surveillance cameras.

The attack occurred on February 4, just before 2:45 PM, when 46-year-old Lamont Collins boarded the tram and, for no apparent reason, began a verbal confrontation with another passenger, 49-year-old Adolf 'Nash' Bruce. Bruce, an employee of the restaurant Amara at Paraiso, was a frequent user of the transportation and was simply waiting to disembark when he became the target of the aggressor.

The video released by the authorities shows Collins walking from the back of the vehicle to the front door, where Bruce was.

The exchange of words quickly escalated into shouting and tension. Despite the driver's efforts to calm the situation—including stopping the vehicle and referring to Collins as "friend"—he persisted in his aggressive demeanor and even brandished a large meat knife.

Although at times it seemed that the situation could de-escalate, Collins pulled out the weapon again and, after a brief struggle, began to stab Bruce repeatedly in front of the other passengers.

Panic overtook the trolley: the screams, blood, and chaos unleashed a horrifying scene. Some passengers tried to escape through the rear emergency windows, while others, in shock, were forced to walk through the blood to leave the vehicle.

Bruce, critically injured, managed to exit on his own but died shortly after due to his wounds.

He was remembered by friends and colleagues as a hardworking man, a lover of basketball and travel. A campaign on GoFundMe aims to raise over $13,000 for funeral expenses.

Lamont Collins managed to escape but was arrested shortly thereafter and charged with second-degree murder. During the preliminary hearing, he pleaded not guilty. He remains in custody without bail.

The Police are continuing to investigate what might have motivated him to commit such an extreme act of violence against a stranger.

Meanwhile, the Miami community mourns the loss of a beloved man and demands increased safety measures in public transportation.
