A driver in Santiago de Cuba refused to assist a man who suffered a serious fall in the street, claiming he didn't want to dirty his vehicle.

The incident occurred on Friday on Calle Cristina, between Calle 11 and Lavatín, in the Mariana de la Torre neighborhood, when the victim fell and sustained bleeding injuries, reported local journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.

According to witnesses, residents of the area stopped a tourist car with license plate T036178, in which three women and two men were traveling, hoping to take the injured person to a nearby medical center.

However, the driver categorically refused to provide assistance, on the pretext that he did not want to dirty the interior of the car with blood.

The injured person was finally transferred to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital by alternative means.

So far, his identity remains unconfirmed, as the man did not carry any identification.

Neighbors of a nearby house, distinguished by its orange facade, found among its belongings two mobile phones and a green backpack, which have been secured while awaiting the arrival of their relatives to claim them.

One of the images on the phones shows a small child, presumably a relative of the injured person, and they are asking anyone who recognizes him to inform the man's family.

The reporter made an urgent appeal to the authorities in Santiago de Cuba to investigate the negligent behavior of the driver and to impose the appropriate sanctions, in accordance with the civic responsibility to provide assistance in emergency situations.

Witnesses of the incident expressed their regret over the attitude and lack of sensitivity shown by the driver and his companions.
