The café con espumita is one of the pleasures most enjoyed by Cubans. To achieve that unique foam in the drink, they don't use electric coffee makers, but rather a very simple trick.
The Cuban Brianna, known on TikTok for her profile @brianna4258, shared with her followers on social media how she prepares Cuban-style coffee with foam.
Brianna sets up an Italian coffee maker (also known as a moka pot, greca, or macchinetta) in the usual way, with water and ground coffee. She places it on the heat, and while she waits for the coffee to start brewing, she adds four tablespoons of sugar to a cup.
"One must be very attentive because it's with the first pour of the coffee that we will prepare the foam," says Brianna.
That first pour is added to the sugar in the cup and is whisked vigorously until it is well integrated and achieves a dense consistency. The coffee maker is placed back on the heat to finish straining, and once ready, the cuban espresso with foam is served in a very simple manner.
A spoonful of the cream is taken, poured into a cup of coffee, and black nectar is added. It is stirred lightly with a teaspoon, and it's ready to be enjoyed.
The trick is very simple; you just need to pay attention to the first brew of the coffee, which, being the most intense, is ideal for making good foam.
