A family loses everything: Fire destroys their home in Havana

The fire broke out on Tuesday morning in a home where a large family lives.

A fire destroyed a single-family home in Luyanó, in the Havana municipality of Diez de Octubre, on the morning of this Tuesday.

As a result of the incident, no injuries were reported, although there were material losses.

A video published by the independent media Cubanet showcased a large deployment of firefighters amid the anticipation of local residents.

"In the house lived a large family", noted the mentioned media outlet, which emphasized that the residents in the home "lost everything."

So far, it has not been revealed what started the fire.

In the comments section of the Facebook post by Cubanet, several users speculated that the explosion of an electric motorcycle may have caused the fire.

However, such a hypothesis was refuted by Yuneysi Sant Coloma, who claimed to be one of the victims.

"I clarify the situation. It was not due to any motorcycle, and with God's grace, we are all well. This is communicated by a resident of the house. Thank you to everyone who feels the pain.", she stated, although she did not specify what the cause of the incident might have been.

As of the closing of this note, there are no further details regarding what happened, which adds to the increasing number of fires that, for various reasons, have marked the early months of 2025 in Cuba.

This Monday, a small fire broke out in the afternoon in the area known as La Candonga, in Santa Clara.

In that case, according to information shared by the official communicator Henry Omar Pérez, the incident affected three kiosks: two of them were completely destroyed, while a third was partially damaged. Apparently, household goods, plumbing materials, and welding equipment were being sold at the affected points of sale.
