Cuban journalism mourns the death of Nelson García Santos, regarded as the dean of correspondents for the newspaper Juventud Rebelde, a publication to which he devoted nearly half a century of work.

The 78-year-old veteran reporter passed away on Tuesday in his hometown of Villa Clara, due to undisclosed causes.

In addition to Juventud Rebelde, he was also a regular contributor to the weekly magazine Vanguardia and to the news services of the radio station CMHW in the aforementioned province.

The body of García Santos was laid in repose at the Las Villas funeral home in the city of Santa Clara until its departure to his hometown, Calabazar de Sagua, for a final farewell.
