Cuban reggaeton artist Yomil Hidalgo publicly spoke out on Monday, just hours after his participation in a debate organized by the Ministry of Culture of Cuba about urban music went viral.
The artist's reaction came through the stories on his Instagram account, where he stated that in the meeting "they spoke frankly and without gloves, but with a lot of respect."
“The best thing about the dialogue at the Ministry of Culture is that there, they spoke frankly and without gloves, yet with a lot of respect”, wrote the urban singer.
“And for the commentators who immediately start talking nonsense and jumping to conclusions, I have the recording of my intervention”, he warned, making it clear that he intends to make it public when he has time, “so they can speak with a foundation”.
Yomil also celebrated that, for the first time in nearly 25 years, the country's cultural authorities recognized the urban genre as a reality within the Cuban music scene.
“I want to make it clear that my principles are non-negotiable under any circumstances. I am genuine and I speak the truth wherever I stand,” stated the reggaeton artist, before concluding with a powerful phrase: “Those who stay in the heat and not in the cold m, because from the outside everything looks nicer.”

His post comes a day after news broke about his presence at the event, alongside fellow reggaeton artist Yulién Oviedo, as part of a dialogue initiative promoted by the government to address the influence of reggaeton on Cuban youth.
