Yansay Delgado Fernández, a 14-year-old Cuban teenager originally from Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara, recently passed away in a tragic traffic accident in the city of Homestead, in Miami-Dade County.
The minor had emigrated to the United States just nine months ago, according to a relative in a message sent to CiberCuba.
A campaign on the fundraising platform GoFundMe is seeking assistance to cover funeral expenses and provide the farewell that is deserved.
"Yansay was a light in the lives of all who knew him, full of joy, love, and with a bright future ahead. [...] We are organizing this campaign to help his family cover the funeral expenses and to give Yansay the farewell he deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be a great help and deeply appreciated," says part of the campaign text.
The funeral is scheduled to take place this Wednesday. As of the publication of this note, $12,420 has been raised.
So far, no additional details have emerged regarding the circumstances of the incident in which the teenager lost his life.
Unfortunately, he is not the only Cuban who has recently died in a car accident in the United States.
This week, the death of May Lago Pérez, a young Cuban dancer, originally from Bayamo, Granma, and residing in Austin, Texas, was also news, as she tragically lost her life in a car accident.
