A fire that broke out on Saturday night in the Versalles popular council area of Matanzas city raised concerns among residents and created confusion on social media, where it was mistakenly reported that a fuel tank had exploded at the local port.

The first images of the disaster, which show intense columns of smoke and flames visible from various points in the city, circulated widely on Facebook, causing alerts among users.

Some internet users described the incident as a "serious fire at the port of Matanzas," without confirming the details with official sources.

In response to the news dissemination, the official profile '' denied the alleged explosion of an oil tank, stating that what actually happened was a brush fire in the vicinity of the Versalles popular council.

According to reports, the fire was quickly attended to by fire department units, and no damage to sensitive infrastructure or injuries to individuals were reported.
