After 54 days of interruption, the authorities resumed the distribution of liquefied gas in the capital city of Sancti Spíritus, an essential fuel for cooking food in a context characterized by frequent power outages and deterioration in basic services.
According to the weekly publication Escambray, the Business Unit belonging to the Territorial Fuel Marketing Division announced via its Telegram channel that all sales points —including the two recently opened ones— will have a supply.
Prioritized and limited distribution
Priority will be given to the 675 clients who made their advance payment via ticket, and additionally, the following will be distributed: 420 small items for in-person sales in line; 55 intended for individuals with physical disabilities; and 50 for cases in vulnerable situations.
In total, the delivery will include 1,276 cylinders, distributed as follows: Olivos I (120), Olivos II (140), Garaita (158), Colón (140), Jesús María (150), Camino de la Habana (136), Parque (60), Huerto Escolar (118), Santa Cruz (58), Reparto Pina (120), and 76 will have home delivery service.
Accumulated delays and a promise of continuity
According to official sources, distribution will continue as long as the product is available, and efforts will also take place over the weekend to try to make up for the delays that have affected hundreds of families in recent weeks.
The shortage of liquefied gas, coupled with prolonged power outages, has left many families without viable alternatives for cooking, increasing the precariousness of access to basic services in the province.
