Cuban José Ramón Pelier repeats his international podium finish and takes home the silver in Poland

The Cuban José Ramón Pelier Pelier continued his strong performance this Sunday in the current competitive season by winning the silver medal in the C1 5000 meters event during the 2025 Canoeing World Cup held in Poznan, Poland.

According to JIT, the time of the Guantanamo athlete was 22:18.79 minutes, finishing just behind the Hungarian Adolf Balazs, who took the gold with a time of 22:11.47. The bronze went to the German Conrad Robin Scheibner, with a time of 23:38.95.

Pelier, a world champion and Olympian, had just won the C1 5000 meters event at the 2025 Sprint Canoeing World Cup held a few days ago in Hungary, with a time of 23:20.97.

Cirilo and López, without a podium in C1 200 meters

In the A final of the women's C1 200 meters, the Cubans Yarisleidis Cirilo and Yinnoly Francheska López placed sixth and ninth, respectively.

Cirilo, Olympic bronze in Paris 2024, stopped the clock at 48.10 seconds, a time lower than the 46.83 he achieved in the semifinals. López, for his part, recorded 49.91 seconds, far from the 47.78 marked in his semifinal.

The gold medal in this event went to Canadian Katie Vincent, the Olympic champion in Paris 2024, with a time of 47.48 seconds, followed by Ukrainian Iryna Fedori (47.63) and fellow Canadian Sophia Jensen (47.77).
