The Cuban singer La Diosa couldn't hold back her tears while recording one of the most emotional songs from her upcoming album, Joyas. It is "Un beso y una flor," the classic by Nino Bravo, which, in addition to being an anthem of Spanish music, was her father's favorite song.
"In the years I've been in my career, I've never experienced anything like this. I've taken an immense amount of time to record this song; I believe I've spent longer on this than on any other song throughout my career, but there is a reason: 'A Kiss and a Flower,' a song by Nino Bravo that is also a classic, another one of the gems of this album, was my father's favorite song," La Diosa confessed, visibly moved.
In a video posted on her social media, the Cuban artist can be seen at the moment when she begins to perform the song in front of the microphone, her emotions overwhelm her, and she has to pause because the tears won't let her continue.
“When I was a child, my dad would sing it to me every day, and it has been very difficult for me to record it. It's not easy knowing he's not here listening to me record his song. I would love for him to hear me wherever he is,” she expressed through tears.
Her husband and the music producer of the album, Rey El Mago, said that when it came to creating the music, he aimed to give it "the most sentimental and beautiful nuances" so that La Diosa could remember what she felt when sharing this moment with her father. Rey also encouraged her to view the recording as a tribute to her dad, rather than from a place of pain.
The emotional version of “Un beso y una flor” will be one of the tracks included in the album Joyas, which La Diosa will officially present on July 19 at a concert in the Watsco Center in Miami.
