Miami authorities revealed the identity of the person who was stabbed to death while sleeping in their apartment in a luxury condominium in Brickell.

It concerns Dominic Paul Maron Ferrell, a young man of only 17 years, who received multiple stab wounds last Sunday morning at the Icon Brickell residential complex, located at 485 Brickell Avenue.

The police also identified the perpetrator of the crime: a 26-year-old man named Kyrill Kehl, who was found dead hours later in a construction building with restricted access to the public, right across from Icon Brickell.

The detectives believe that he fell from an upper floor, but it has not yet been determined whether it was an accident, if he was pushed, or if it was a suicide.

The most unusual thing about this case is that neither the victim nor the murderer knew each other.

According to the report from NBC Miami, a security video shows Kehl stealthily entering the building alongside another individual.

Once inside, he is seen trying to open several doors before reaching the victim's apartment on the 34th floor, which was not locked. This allowed him to enter without using force.

According to the arrest report, he brutally stabbed the young man Dominic several times while he was sleeping.

Another person who also lived in the rental apartment noticed what was happening and ran out while screaming for help.

Minutes later, the security video shows the suspect and another man fleeing the scene. "That's part of the information we are investigating. It's still very early," Vega stated.

The murderer left several knives in the apartment.

The police reported that Kehl has a history of mental health issues and was visiting Miami from Arizona. As of now, it is not known whether he was under the influence of any substance.

It was also confirmed that he and the slain teenager had no prior interaction whatsoever.

"It is disheartening to see this 17-year-old young man, who was just beginning his life, murdered by a complete stranger, someone he had no contact with, a person who did not know him, and who committed this atrocious crime," said Michael Vega, spokesperson for the Department.

Ferrel studied years ago at the Catholic school Sts. Peter & Paul in Miami, which honored him in a post on its Instagram account.

"Today, our Panther family mourns the loss of a beloved alumnus. We come together in prayer and remembrance of Dominic and the entire Ferrell family during this difficult time," says the message.

"As a proud member of our Catholic school and the Panther community, you will always be remembered for your spirit, faith, and love that touched so many people," the text adds.

Murder in the early morning

The emergency call was received at 2:15 AM on Sunday.

The police arrived at the luxurious skyscraper, which also houses the W Hotel. When the teams found the victim bleeding out, they had no choice but to declare her deceased at the scene.

Michael Vega dismissed rumors suggesting that there was a party at the site. "It seems that whoever did this simply entered that apartment," he said.

From the beginning, it was confirmed that the tragic incident was not a case of domestic violence.

Additionally, the Police emphasized that there are no risks for the residents of Brickell and that the investigation remains open to clarify all the details.

Shock and uncertainty among the neighbors

The violent incident has caused shock among residents of Brickell, an area known for its high level of safety and exclusivity.

"I believe we are all in a state of shock... no one expects something like this to happen here," commented Christian Tang, a resident of the area.

Authorities continue to gather evidence, review security footage, and take statements, while the community struggles to come to terms with the tragic incident.
