Days after the cold-blooded murder of a Cuban in an apartment complex in Hialeah, the possible motivations behind the crime that took the life of 33-year-old Yoendris Campos are beginning to emerge.

It seems that the incident was triggered by a dispute between neighbors over a parking space.

It is important to remember that Campos was visiting a friend's house when he was attacked on Tuesday around 3:00 PM, in the building located at 710 East 9th Street.

According to his cousin's revelation to NBC Miami, he was killed after parking his car in the space belonging to his murderer, who also resides in the same apartment complex.

"He parked in a spot that apparently belonged to the man who shot him," said Braulio Rodríguez.

"He and a friend of mine opened the door... and a man came out, shot, and that was it. They say the suspect lives right there, next to the house, that he’s crazy," noted Eulices Rondón, another cousin of the victim. "Nobody knows him."

Rodríguez added that his cousin had been welcoming a person who recently arrived in the United States.

"Yoendry was a very sociable person. [His mother] is not doing well at all. She is devastated. The neighbors [in Cuba] are comforting her," he noted.

From the very beginning, the authorities classified the incident as "isolated" and considered the possibility of a dispute between neighbors as the cause of the crime.

"It is an isolated incident, stemming from what appears to be a dispute between neighbors. There is no security risk to the public at this time," clarified Officer José Torres.

The person responsible for the crime is Pedro de Jesús Blanco, a 55-year-old man also of Cuban origin, who was arrested shortly after the incident.

The attack was recorded by a security camera in the complex, which facilitated the immediate arrest.

"The fact that he concealed the weapon and returned after receiving no response indicates a planned action," stated a spokesperson for the Police Department.

During the court hearing held the next day, Judge Mindy Glazer of Miami-Dade County determined that Blanco must remain in jail without the possibility of bail while the criminal proceedings are ongoing.

The state prosecutor presented evidence suggesting a deliberate act.

According to the allegation, Blanco had gone to his apartment to retrieve a weapon, concealed it in a bag, and then returned to the neighbor's door. When he received no answer, he left, but when Campos opened the door, he returned immediately and shot directly at him.

The accusation emphasizes that all of this rules out any indication of self-defense or impulsive action.

Upon searching the accused's apartment, the murder weapon and a bullet cartridge were found in a trash bin in the kitchen. Blanco did not resist arrest.

"We want justice to be served, for that man to pay for what he did. He took away someone very dear to us, a father, a cousin, a worker," a family member expressed during the court hearing.

Campos, known among his friends as Gaspacho, emigrated from El Vedado, Havana, seven years ago. He is the father of a young daughter and was regarded by those around him as a family man, hardworking, and free from legal troubles.

In the midst of the pain, family and friends have launched a campaign on the GoFundMe platform to raise funds and cover the funeral expenses.

"He left behind a whole family and friends who loved him. Through this GoFundMe, we want to help his mother say goodbye to him with dignity," states the text of the campaign.
