The young Cuban mother identified on TikTok as @anita.cubanita64 recently shared with her followers that she managed to buy a house in Cuba, an event that she herself described as one of the most important moments of her life.
“Today is one of the happiest days of my life because, even living in Cuba, I was able to achieve my dreams after such a long time, after so many years and so many sacrifices,” she expressed in a video that has garnered thousands of views and reactions on the platform.
"I was able to achieve my dreams after so much time, so many years, and so many sacrifices," he explained while showing images of his new home. "A dream that for a long time I thought was impossible, but nothing is impossible in this life," he added.
In her testimony, Anita thanked those who have supported her on her platforms: “I can't help but say that the merit does not belong solely to me but to all of you, for every detail, for every comment on my videos, for every support in my lives. Thank you to all those little people who from the very first moment believed in me and were part of this process.”
“This will be the first of many videos in my new home, because I want everyone to be part of this long process of settling in and arranging my little house,” she said. “I know it may not be much, but for me, it represents a tremendous sacrifice of time, and the future of my baby.”
In a second video, shared hours later, he documented part of the painting and renovation process in his home. He showed how he had to buy paint again after an initial choice that didn’t turn out well: “These were the colors I wanted… but the paint didn’t lighten at all. This was turning out awful.” He also recounted how he bought small decorations, like scented candles: “These little candles smell amazing, I had never smelled one like this… I love all these little things, I’m like a little kid.”
The day, as he recounted, was exhausting: “I just couldn’t take it anymore from the fatigue I was feeling, so this was my lunch.” He also included scenes with his son and mentioned a power outage that prevented him from continuing with the renovations: “The power went out, so I guess I’ll show you how the little house turned out tomorrow.”
The comments on her posts came in quickly. “You made me cry with emotion,” wrote one follower. “You deserve it; every effort has its reward,” commented another. Several users highlighted that, despite the difficulties in the island, she achieved an important milestone without emigrating. "I thought you would leave Cuba, but I'm still so glad you have your home,” wrote one internet user. Another noted, “I admire you a lot, you know why? Because despite the situation in Cuba, you remain in your country and I congratulate you, beautiful.”
Some people asked her about the process of acquiring a home. “Can the government take it away from you?” questioned a user. Anita replied, “Not at all, you pay, you buy, and it’s your property.” She also explained, “You just go with the seller to a notary, they appraise the house, and you have to deposit a percentage in the bank.”
This new chapter of her life comes after several viral testimonials. In March of last year, Anita explained that she was paying 10,000 Cuban pesos per month for rent in Matanzas. In May, she published a video where she reflected on what she considers true wealth: having health, food, and her child by her side. "Having a plate of food on my table every day is a huge luxury," she stated at that time.
Weeks later, he delivered a refrigerator to two elderly women as part of the charitable project Haciendo Sueños, driven by his supporters. “Thanks to all of you, we were able to bring joy into the lives of these two grandmothers,” he said in that video.
In other posts, she has denounced the precariousness of basic services on the island. Recently, she showed how her son's puree spoiled due to a lack of electricity. In another viral post, she questioned the internet service prices in Cuba after the new ETECSA rate hike, stating: “Where am I supposed to get 10 dollars if I don’t earn 10 dollars in a month and I’m a teacher?”
With each post, Anita has built a loyal community that follows her both inside and outside Cuba. Her videos not only depict her everyday life but also highlight the struggles faced by many Cuban mothers. This time, with a goal achieved that, in her own words, sums up like this: “Today I can officially say that I have my little house”.
