A girl, her father, and a man who tried to help them were rushed to the hospital this Sunday after a rescue attempt at sea nearly ended in tragedy in front of the B Ocean hotel in Fort Lauderdale.

The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m., just a few minutes after the lifeguards from Ocean Rescue finished their workday. While they were packing up their equipment, they heard a 911 call reporting a minor in danger in the water, as confirmed by authorities from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue (FLFR).

According to matching reports from local media such as CBS Miami, WSVN, and Telemundo 51, the girl was accompanied by several family members when she began to struggle while swimming. Her father jumped into the water to help her, while another adult—described by witnesses as a good Samaritan—also attempted to assist but was overpowered by the current and managed to get out on his own.

Members of Ocean Rescue, still in the area, reacted quickly and managed to pull the girl out alive. However, her father disappeared underwater and was located minutes later by the rescuers. On the shore, paramedics from the fire department began resuscitating efforts.

The three individuals were transferred to Broward Health Medical Center. Although their official health status has not been disclosed, media outlets like WSVN reported that one of the adults was admitted with life-threatening injuries.

This incident occurred a day after another minor was hospitalized in Fort Lauderdale following a near drowning that took place at 6001 NW 6th Way, where bystanders performed CPR before emergency services arrived, according to NBC6 reported.
