The Cuban regime strongly condemned the attack by the United States against nuclear facilities in Iran, labeling it a “flagrant violation of International Law” and an act that jeopardizes global stability.
Through an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), issued this Saturday, June 22, in Havana, the government of Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed its full support for Tehran and demanded an urgent international response.
"The threat of direct aggression by the U.S. against the Islamic Republic of Iran, encouraged by the genocidal government of Israel, has become a reality following the cowardly bombings of the nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan," denounced the statement released by the foreign ministry.
The Cuban reaction comes one day after the U.S. airstrike, confirmed by President Donald Trump on social media, who stated that the nuclear facility at Fordow had been “wiped off the map”. The offensive included the launch of bunker-busting bombs from B-2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles from submarines.
The Cuban government asserted that the attacks not only represent a "dangerous escalation of the conflict in the Middle East," but also constitute a "serious violation" of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, as the targeted facilities are under inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In its statement, Havana called on the General Assembly and the UN Security Council to urgently act to stop what it considers a "reckless aggression" from Washington. It also urged for a "global mobilization to restore peace."
“The government of the United States recklessly jeopardizes the pursuit of regional peace and drags humanity into a crisis of immeasurable consequences,” the text concluded.
Cuba's position aligns with that of its strategic allies, such as Russia, which has also condemned the U.S. military operation and offered diplomatic mediation that was rejected by Trump.
