Susely Morfa, known as the "millionaire psychologist", led her first volunteer work this Sunday as secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Villa Clara, as highlighted by the official herself on her social media.

"All municipalities in the province participated in a productive day of voluntary work in the planting of sugarcane and various crops. In the productive area of Yabú, we planted 4 hectares of sweet potato. Nothing will stop the determination to overcome difficulties," wrote Morfa, who had previously held political responsibilities in Matanzas and is now making her debut as the first secretary of the PCC in Villa Clara.

The official stated that this Sunday, they planted four hectares of sweet potato in the productive area known as "Yabú": "In the entire province, volunteer work was carried out, including the planting of sugarcane and hardy crops."

Voluntary work, established from the early years of the Cuban regime, continues to be promoted by the authorities as a means to mobilize human resources and "reinforce" political values, but it has been criticized for its mandatory nature and lack of transparency in its organization and management.

Susely Morfa González began her political career in the Union of Young Communists (UJC), where she became the National First Secretary, and has since held positions such as First Secretary of the PCC in Matanzas and, since 2025, in Villa Clara.

After an incident at the Summit of the Americas in Panama in 2015, when Morfa claimed to have financed her trip with her own resources, she earned the nickname "millionaire psychologist." Her comment sparked criticism and mockery in the media and on social networks, and the expression has been used to question her official narrative and her position within the Cuban political elite, contrasting sharply with the economic reality of the majority of the population.

Morfa is known for his triumphalist rhetoric in defense of the regime and his alignment with the official leadership, which has ensured him a rapid political rise.

This year, she was appointed as the secretary of the PCC in Villa Clara by the Plenary of the Provincial Party Committee, chaired by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau. The body decided to relieve Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez of his position, who will assume new responsibilities within the party apparatus.
