The Cuban Yenlis González shared with her followers a new episode of her life on wheels in the United States: her move from Louisiana to the city of Orange, Texas. She did this through a video in which she shows the interior of her RV and describes what it's like to travel with her entire home in tow.

"Today we had to close the slides of the RV because we're heading to Orange, Texas," explains the young woman in her video, which has already gathered hundreds of interactions. "Every time we have to move, it's like starting a mini adventure. With just the push of a button, the slides begin to retract automatically," she details about the automated functioning of her recreational vehicle.

The content creator, who lives with her husband, highlights that one of the greatest advantages of this lifestyle is its practicality. "I don’t have to disassemble anything or exert any effort. It’s so automatic that in less than five minutes we're ready to move," she shares. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of securely packing all items before leaving to avoid accidents during the journey.

Despite the constant moves, for Yenlis, the essential thing is that the home remains intact: "I like that, even though we move, it’s still the same house. It’s like carrying your world with you no matter the destination.", she states.

In the comments on the video, her followers left messages of support, curiosity, and affection. A friend expressed to her, "I miss you, my friend," to which Yenlis replied warmly, "I miss you too, I hope we can get back together." Others inquired about her source of income, and she explained that her husband works in refineries and she is starting an online store.

One user mentioned that Orange, Texas, "is boring," and the young woman acknowledged that this is true, but clarified that her move is for work reasons. Another person congratulated her on her lifestyle: "I love it every time we move in the RV because we always get to know new places," she commented.

A lifestyle on the rise among Cubans in the U.S.

Yenlis González is not the only Cuban who has chosen to live in a trailer. Her story is joined by others like Carolina, who has also shared on TikTok the pros and cons of residing in an RV. Last May, Yenlis revealed that her vehicle is a 2024 model, valued at 73 thousand dollars. The couple made a 10% down payment and pays about 2,000 dollars monthly for the loan, insurance, parking, and gas.

This lifestyle, though not without its challenges, increasingly attracts Cuban migrants who seek independence, mobility, and the opportunity to save while traveling through various cities in search of better job prospects.

Other testimonies like Carolina's have helped to highlight this trend. In April, she explained the real costs of living in an RV and how she has faced criticism for her choice. She has also shared practical details, such as her routine for doing laundry in tight spaces within the vehicle.

For many, like Yenlis, what matters is not the size of the space, but the feeling of belonging: “Different paths, but always with the same home”, concludes the young woman in her video.
