Five people were rescued this Sunday after the boat carrying them caught fire in Key Biscayne.
According to a tweet from the US Coast Guard Southeast (USCG), the five sailors were rescued from the burning boat by a good Samaritan about eight miles off the coast of Key Biscayne, near Elliott Key, and brought to shore unharmed.
The Miami Beach Coast Guard, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, and the Miami-Dade Fire Department had responded to the call for help around 10 a.m.
The owner of the boat used his registered emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) to request help.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
